Why I like this game:a) its surfing!
b) its rendered visually appealing
c) the tons of unlockable soundtracks
d) its actually FUN to play
As a rule I despise games that have movie tie-ins. This is because they are utter .... ummm, junk. Cranked out by merchandisers with one dimensional gameplay, graphics, and gamer satisfaction.
I bought this for Junior's PS2 because he's crazy about the movie. And like the movie, this tie-in was better than I expected. Some reviews slammed this one because the game can easily be beaten over a weekend. I'm not one of those people who care how long, as long as
it's fun. I also liked being able to pick what mood music to play, and there is a wide selection of around 20 catchy tracks to choose from. Like the tunes, locations, competitors, boards and accessories are unlocked as you go, competing in a new location (all truthfully re imagined ala the movie), racking up points with various maneuvers, tricks, targets and pickups. You can also go back to previous locations to re compete and nab your missed pickups. The two player option also lets you compete against family or friend (Junior has too much free time, he got the best of the old man).
The pace is fast, the moves are cool, the music is hot... not difficult, but lots of fun. I wanna play it again!
